ETIM-MC or ETIM Modelling Classes (formerly ETIM-RT) is, just like the basic ETIM Classification, an open standard managed by Ketenstandaard Bouw en Techniek.
A product equipped with ETIM-MC feature values offers the possibility of generating, in combination with a 3D object from the Uniforme Objecten Bibliotheek (UOB, Uniform Objects Library) of 2BA, a manufacturer-specific 3D object. A crucial step for the Building Information Model (BIM).
When a product class (EC code), into which the product in question falls, is linked to one or more modelling classes (MC code) then calculation and drawing parameters can be established and communicated through the 2BA Data Pool.
Based on the corresponding dimensional drawing, the specific parameters can be determined. A distinction is made between alphanumerical, numerical and logical features. In the case of alphanumerical features, there’s a choice between possible values in a fixed row (for inner diameter = 1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″ etc.). Numerical features require a numerical value with a certain unit, such as the length in millimetres, for example (except radial values). A logical feature lets you choose only between yes and no. In addition, there is the option of indicating the specific port designation.
Given the complexity, we strongly recommend using PIM software to manage this data. ETIM-MC features can only be delivered with the international standard ETIM xChange, the Dutch standard DICO (SALES005) or the BMEcat 2005 ETIM Guidelines catalogue message file format.
