Draka

achieves tripleplus on Data Label

Draka is internationally active in the development, production and sale of all kinds of cable solutions for a wide variety of customers.

Draka’s products are used in aircraft, trains and cars, in ships and on oil rigs, in elevators and windmills, in homes and offices. Minutely small or with a diameter of a few centimeters. Draka has a solution for every application in its core markets.

“We see 2BA as an essential shared data center where consistent availability and validation of data are crucial.”

Lars Knoester, Product Manager, Draka Kabel B.V.

Why did Draka decide to join 2BA?

Draka wants to make its products universally available to the market. 2BA is the most suitable data pool for this within the Dutch installation sector.

Why is data (quality) high on the agenda?

Data quality and information play an increasingly important role in making the choice for the most suitable product or article. Sustainability also plays an increasingly important role in data supplied by manufacturers. Draka also tries to take a pioneering role here by communicating the data as completely and transparently as possible.

How do you view the role of 2BA as a shared data center?

It is important that data shared to 2BA is correct and reliable. Not everyone handles this with the same care. It is therefore important that there is clarity about the validation of parameters that are shared in data pools such as 2BA. In this, 2BA, together with manufacturers, wholesalers and Ketenstandaard Bouw en Techniek, also has a joint interest and responsibility for this clarity to exist and to continue to exist.

How do you view the ETIM classification, where do you see the advantages and challenges?

ETIM classification is a joint property of various parties in the chain, changes in ETIM classifications can be requested and submitted by various parties. This is then accepted or not. As a result, the ETIM classification is continuously developing, for example due to changing circumstances or technological developments.

What are the expectations of your chain partners such as sales channels and processors?

That sustainability, and thus environmental data, will play an increasingly prominent role.

What was the (data) challenge and how did the ‘journey’ to the triple plus go?

The data required to make the ‘journey’ to triple plus is a continuous process, a lot of data is available internally at Draka and needs to be communicated to 2BA via our PIM system. This remains a continuous process of updating and supplementing when, for example, new products are introduced. The last step we took to achieve the triple plus label is the conversion from ETIM 8 to ETIM 9. This made it possible to achieve a 100% score on all product characteristics

What contribution has 2BA made to this?

The conversion to ETIM 9 requires updating all mappings between our PIM system and the parameters of 2BA. This is a process that takes place in several steps, and the first small tests to see if the mapping is correct to the final delivery of the complete dataset of Draka with more than 4,000 articles. The analyses and help of 2BA have helped us to make this transition reasonably quickly and in the meantime it has been successfully implemented

What are the next steps on the agenda regarding data?

For the future, we have further steps on our agenda, such as expanding even more packaging forms, adding attachments such as certificates and EPDs, and maintaining the dynamic ETIM classification. We remain committed to continuously updating and improving our data, so that we can offer the best quality and transparency to our customers

We see 2BA as an essential shared data center where unambiguous availability and validation of data are crucial. It is important that the shared data is correct and reliable, and 2BA plays an important role in this by working with manufacturers, wholesalers and the ETIM classification and Ketenstandaard to ensure this unambiguity.
